  Notes	During his stay as a mason in the Paarl (1718-1724) he had the oppertunity to meet the unmarried young female members of church.. The church members of the Paarl-Drakenstein church consist mainly from the French Hugenotes and their children. Jan with his German origin obviously was not comfortable between these members and their French cultures. Between these church members there were also free burgher which were not from French origin like the Lubbe family. The first lubbe in South Africa, Barend Lubbe (Berndt Lubbe) arrived about 1721 from Nederland at the Cape. Barend Lubbe was born in Germany and this was probarly the reason for Jan to get along with the Lubbe family. Barend's father (Barndt or Barend Lubbe or lobe) was born about 1640 in Germany. Come what may, Jan Married Elisabeth about 1721. Their exact married date is unknown because of the marraige register of Paarl-Drakenstein church for the years between 1721 and 1724 is lost. The marraige was probarly conducted by minister Petrus van Aken. Aletta, the first child of Jan Vorster and Elizabeth Lubbe was baptised on 2 April 1722 at Stellenbosch. Parson H. Beck was ministe rof the congregation those times. With her baptism, her mother's brother (Hendrik) signed as a witness. She was probarly named after her mother's sister whom was also called Aletta. Aletta married Pieter Gous on 25 November 1742 in the Paarl whom was the origin of the Gous family in South Africa. Jan, the second child was baptised on 17 September 1724 in Capetown and no witnesses signed the documents. The boy, Jan obviously received his father's name. Because the baptism took place in Capetown Jan must have finished his contract in Paarl with heemraad S.W. van der Merwe in 1724, and settled in the region of Capetown. The boy Jan probarly died at a young age because nothing was ever noted regarding his existance. Barend, the third child was also baptised in Capetown on 1 December 1726. Reverand H. Beck was the minister. There was also no witnesses at his baptism. He was named after his grandfather, Barend Lubbe. All the Vorster's in South Africa originate further from Barend.

  His death date is not known In the marriage register of Tulbagh is noted " 3 April 1746 trou Barend Vorster van Cabo de Goede Hoop, burger van een afgelegene Buite Distrik, met Dorothea Maria Smit, Jongedogter van Cabo de Goede Hoop " 1750 - Barend asked on 3 April 1750 for "de Plaats Tygercloof , overde Vier en Twintig riviere". Renew the leasehold on 28 March 1752, on 17 April 1753 ,on 23 April 1755 and on 3 April 1756 again. On 28 February 1756 he paid for 3 years occupation Rks.72.(RLR12/2No317 1761 - Barend asked " de plaats Pietersklip over de Vier en Twintigriviere on 2 March 1761 synde de verlate plaats van Erasmus Smit." Renew on 29 April 1762 2 March 1763 . On 23 February 1763 notified by Mathys Taute, as liability of Barend Vorster that he should leave the farm. (RLR 16/2 No 271) Matthias Taute was married (20.3.1748) to Elisabeth Bruins Lubbe, out of marriage daughter of Elisabeth Lubbe (widow Vorster) and half sister of Barend. 1762 - Barend asked "de plaats Cardouw, over de Vier en Twintig riviere, de verlate plaats van Jacobus Gildenhuys " on 23 August 1762 (RLR 17/2No197). 1763 - Matthias Taute leave Pietersklip. 1763 - "Barend Vorster asks for the Freehold of the cattle farm Tygercloof, situated at the 24 rivers occupied by him on loan for several years. Offers to pay the annual recognition of Rds. 24 , and a purchase amount of Rds. 60 (LeibrandtLM 17 bls. 1136A) "Den 13 Oct. 1763 is bostaande plaats in eigendomgeneem ( RLR 12/2 Stellenbosch No 317) On the diagram the situation of the farm is given as "Zuid na die plaats van Daniel Keyser, Wes na de Heunige Berg, Noord nade Coopmans Craal, Oost na het hoge gebergte" Die deedsoffice mention " Zuid na Paul Keyser". Paul Keyser was married to Aletta Lubbe, older sister of ElisabethLubbe. Barend received his map and transport on 15 December 1763. The farm is presently known as Tigerkloof 164, Piketberg and belongs to Willem van der Merwe. The original house is still occupied by Willem bu has been alternared significantly. 1769 - Matthias Taute gives notice on behalf of Barend Vorster that he is leaving the farm Cardouw on 9 September 1769. 1773 - Matthias Taute died on 23 November 1773. 1779 - Barend sell Tigercloof on 17 March 1779 to Frederik Liebenberg (T5159). 1779 - Barend asked "de Wagenboomrivier gelee int bockeveld, synde de verlate plaats van Jacoba Elisabeth Lubbe" on 17 March 1779. (RLR 40) 1780 - Barend asked on 4 March 1780 for "Coornlands Cloof gelegen aande zyde van de Olifants Rivier" and received it on 17 August 1780. (RLR 26,No 101) 1786 - Barend asked "de Kleyne Vally over de Olifantsrivier" on 3 February 1786. (RLR34/2 No 283) 1786 - Barend asked "de Kruintje (Ruintje?) gelee int koude Bokkeveld" in 1786 (RLR40) The farm is presently known as Keunje 56. 1790 - Barend leaves Kleyne Vally on 23 March 1790. 1790 - Alwyn Jacobus Vorster (b3c2) asked for the farm Kleyne Vally in 1790. (RLR 40) 1795 - Heemrade meeting held from 8 May 1795 at Graaf - Reinet: On Saturday 9 May 1795 it was reported that " Alewyn Jacobus Vorster van de Groene Vally is tans woonagtig aan het Holifants Bad (??? )op een plaas van Barend Vorster de Oude sy vader wat oorlede is" These farms are all situated in an area which can be viewed on the 1:250 000 map 3218 Clanwilliam at 33 degrees 50 min south and 19 degrees 03 min east.
